ARTS EDUCATOR
Teaching art and design has been a passion of mine for more than 25 years. A native of New York, I received a Masters of Science in Interior Design from Florida State University at Jacksonville in 1982.
I served as an Interior Design Technology Professor at Florida State College at Jacksonville for over 15 years. During that time I developed virtual learning programs and taught college level courses online, as well as teaching my Online Nature Journaling Lessons which are suitable for every skill level.
My expertise includes hand sketching, perspective drawing and color rendering with markers and color pencils. My years in the classroom taught me the importance of step-by-step instruction, even in the field of art and design! Students quickly recognize that drawing is a learned skill which will improve with practice.
I encourage all students to set aside their inner critics and rise to the challenge of learning to draw - one step at a time. Because of this, I am able to help my students meet that challenge, despite what they may think of their creative ability.
DRAWING TEACHER
In 2016 I moved to Black Mountain, NC and living amidst the beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains gives me the opportunity to combine my passion for nature with the drawing classes I teach. I offer In-Person classes through the Black Mountain Center for the Arts, the Florence Thomas School of the Arts and regional Community Centers.
My teaching style is ideally suited to virtual learning and SIPP DRAWING STUDIO’s classes are accessible worldwide. The Online Class format allows for live drawing demonstrations where the participants can interact. Online Drawing and Journaling Classes bring my easy-to-understand approach to the hand drawing of flowers and other nature based subjects to creatives of all ages and skill levels.
I offer Private Drawing Classes online via Zoom and In-Person.
Questions are encouraged in my drawing classes, and students offer each other feedback and encouragement, which creates a positive drawing community. Out-of-class interaction is facilitated through a private Facebook page where our drawing community shares their drawn images and nature videos.
I am thrilled to be able to share my love of art and nature with the drawing community I mentor!
